"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Who hasn’t thought about the good old days, or how things used to be, or how simpler life was before now. For some the old times may not hold fond memories but rather things we may want to forget. For other people, the past could be mean a more complex time, like hand writing a letter to communicate to another person… without any emoji to speak for us.
As Emerson points out though, right now, today, is a great a time. It’s up to each of us to make it so. Yesterday has an important place in our memories. However, unlike anything else, time and progress move ahead. Sometimes we like where it goes, other times it frustrates us. Yet, it’s up to us to deal with it and grasp its relevance now, while still appreciating our past and dream for tomorrow.
Nor can we count on our elected officials, or the ones to follow our current leaders to make life better. This moment in history belongs to those who see today is a great day. Who live to make new memories for ourselves and those around us. And that’s worth remembering every day.
Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present. Bill Keane
